Are they the future stars of Indian Cricket?

When players like Dhoni, Gayle, Kl Rahul, Rayudu, de Villiers were firing for their respective teams it was not a good situation for Delhi as their team's performance was not up to the mark. In 6 matches they only registered 1 win. Gautam Gambhir scored 55 in the first but cannot score runs in the next 5 matches. Thus he took the responsibility of his team's losses and took some big decisions like on 25th April he stepped down from the captaincy and if get selected in the playing eleven he will not take match fees, as it can be said that he will play for free.

Shreyas Iyer took the mantle of Delhi from Gambhir. He played his first match as a captain against KKR on 27th April and the fortunes of Delhi changed overnight. He scored 93 off 40 balls and Delhi posted a total of 219/4 and KKR could only score 164/9 and Delhi won the match by 55 runs. But this is only a small part of that day. The main attraction of that day was the batting of two World Cup-winning U-19 batsmen. Famous from his school days, Delhi Daredevils batsman Prithvi Shaw scored 62 off 42 balls with the help of 7-fours and 2-sixes  in his second IPL match, he scored 22 off 10 balls in his debut match. While Shubman Gill of KKR scored 37 runs off 29 balls with 3-fours and 1-six. He was the only Indian player in the U-19 World Cup in 2018 to score a hundred. If he did not get run out the result of the match could be little different. Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar was in all praise for this youngster's batting during the commentary, he was mesmerised by Shubman's batting technique and his flawless hittings. Let us hope these young stars can make it big in the International Arena. And let's see if any of them get selected for the upcoming one-off test versus Afghanistan.

Future plans of ICC

In Kolkata, the ICC meeting has been held and some important discussion took place which could decide the future path of International One Day Cricket. Here the main topic of discussion was of the Test championship, t20 and Champions trophy. It has been said that the first 9 teams in ICC Test rankings will play the Test Championship which will be held between 2019-2021. The final will be in 2021. Then again, the next Test championship will be held between 2021-2023, and its final will be in 2023. It has also been said that instead of the 8 teams ICC Champions Trophy, 16 teams will participate in the World T20, the main aim is to make cricket a known game globally. The World t20 will be held in India in 2021. And before that, the t20 World Cup will be held in Australia in 2020. And the T20 matches between the 104 associate countries will be declared as International Matches and it is declared for both Men's and Women's cricket. This rule will be applied in Women's cricket from 1st June 2018 and in Men's from 1st January 2019. The 50 over World Cup of 2023 will be held in India. As in football, in the t20 format, the 104 associate countries will be given world rankings, and there is an effort to start Cricket in the Olympics from 2028. The trend of playing t20 in all countries is increasing so ICC is giving t20 more priority. We cannot forget that ICC was highly criticised for decreasing the no. of teams in 50 over World Cup. A team like Scotland faced economical problems for such decision by ICC. For this system, no associate country is playing in the World Cup for the first time. This is the first time all the Test playing nations are not participating in the 50 over World Cup.

Birth of a Cricketing Star

Sumit Ganguly:    In 1987, the best ever the star of Indian cricket was, Sunil Gavaskar had retired from the game of cricket. Many thought that such player cannot be replaced by another individual. In fact, the player who faced 74 fast bowlers cannot be replaced. But the Bust of Indian Cricket, Bombay was thinking of something else. Its symbol was first founded in the '87-'88 Harris Shield and Giles Shield. But the special incident started from '88-'89, Ranji Trophy.

Gujarat vs Bombay Ranji match started on 13th December 1988 in Bombay. While Dilip Vengsarkar was leading India vs New Zealand in Visakhapatnam on that day. However, the captain of Bombay was Lalchand Rajput at that time. Gujarat's captain, Dhanushk Patel won the toss and chose to bat. Pradip Kasliwal (4/28) and Anup Sabnis (5/41) bowling finished Gujarat's innings for 140 runs in 50.1 overs. Other than Laliwala (42), none of the guys in Gujarat showed that they could bat.
Rajput and Shishir opened the innings for Bombay. Bombay lost its 1st wicket at 47 runs in the form of Shishir (35) at the bowling of Dhanushk. At the end of the first day, Bombay finished for 95/1. The whole of India does not know at that time what was going to happen tomorrow
.
On the other hand, in Visakhapatnam India bundled New Zealand for 196 runs. Jones 63 and Rutherford 75. Srikkanth took 5 wickets for 27 runs. Indian scored 197/6 in 46.2 overs and won the match. Srikkanth scored 70 Azhar 48. Vengsarkar was out for a duck.

On the second day of the Ranji match between Gujarat and Bombay on 14 December, Alan Sippy added another 111 runs with Rajput but at the score of 206, unfortunately, Rajput got run out when he was at the individual score of 99. After this, the first block of the domination in world cricket which spans over 2 decades was placed. Came to bat a 10th-grade school student, 15 years 7 months and 17 days old  Saradashram Vidyapith student. Sachin Tendulkar, wonderful son of the father, Ramesh Tendulkar, Marathi language professor and mother, Rajni Tendulkar, a bank employee. After that, Sachin Tendulkar and Alan Sippy added 155 runs. Sippy batted for 5 hours 45 minutes, with 14 fours and 1 six scoring 127. When he was out, the team's score was 361. After that Rajput was not declaring innings, only for Sachin's century. Sachin had 92 (in 127), and he had already scored 12 fours till then. Zinto who got Sippy's wicket was bowling. His bowling figure was 38 runs off 16.3 overs and took 2 wickets. Sachin playing in his 1st first-class match stepped out and hit him for 4 in two consecutive balls. As a result, Bombay in 105.5 overs scored 398/6 and Sachin has remained unbeaten on 100 for 129. He became the 63rd player in Ranji trophy, and for Bombay 6th, who scored a century for Bombay in his debut match in the Ranji. 38 years ago, Madhav Rao Apte scored 108 runs against Saurashtra and then this innings.
B Mistry scored 120 runs, Gujarat scored 306 runs in 96.2 overs. Kasiwal again 4/14 and Sabnis 3/89. In response, the match was drawn after Bombay scored 43 runs in 7 overs. Bombay collected 13 points from the match and 4 points were for Gujarat.

It should be remembered that this period was full of ups and downs in Indian cricket. This year ('88 -89) India won 4-0 in one-day series and drew 1-1 in the test series against New Zealand. After that lost 3-0 against West Indies. After a long time, Kapil Dev took 5 wickets for a couple of times in Tests. Hirwani and Ayub were good spinners but the team could not believe in them in long run. There was not much for the future except for Sanjay Manjrekar, Azhar, and Sidhu.

The time period was complicated. Many people (cricket lovers and selectors) looked at domestic cricket. Where some important events occurred. Manoj Prabhakar of Delhi did not get chance in the National team. That year in Ranji he scored 532 runs and got 39 wickets. He scored 106 against Haryana, 229 against Himachal Pradesh and took 7 wickets for 77 runs with the ball, against Odisha took 10 wickets for 107 runs, in the semi-finals scored 123 and 11 against Bombay. In the final, against Bengal took 6 wickets for 107 runs in two innings. And forced others to take notice of him. He also had a batting average of 42 in the Duleep trophy. In  Deodhar trophy took 6 wickets. He had an average of 61.50 with one 50 runs in the Wills Trophy and 8 wickets (in 3 matches).

Ajay Jadeja made his debut this year. On October 23-25 in that year he scored 79 runs against Jammu & Kashmir in Srinagar with 9 fours. That year, he scored 221 runs in 5 matches but grabbed attention for his fielding (7 catches). He went to Pakistan for the Under-19 Indian team in early '89. A total of 410 (29.28 avg), 8 catches and scored 4 fifties and got 12 wickets.

Baroda's Nayan Mongia also scored 413 runs in 7 matches (34.41 average), 2 fifties, 21 catches, 1 stump he holds.

Ananthapadmanavan of Kerala debuted in Ranji this year. Got 6 wickets in 3 matches.

Rajesh Chauhan of Madhya Pradesh also made his debut in Ranji this year. He got 5 wickets in 21 matches. His first match was 13-15 November 1988, taking 11 wickets for 69 runs against Rajasthan.

Maharashtra's Salil Ankola debuted in Pune on December 17-19, vs Gujarat. He scored 7 for 145 with a hat-trick and scored 43 runs with the bat. In that year, in Ranji, he also made 65 runs in 5 matches for 24 wickets and gave him the identity.

It was also heard that Ashish Zaidi, Bhupinder Singh, Gyanendra Pandey, Snehashish Ganguly of Bengal, Sagarmoy Senasarma. Among the older people, Basanta Ranjan, Roger Binny, Madanlal, Yashpal Sharma, Kirmani, Sandeep Patil, TA Shekhar Rao still making the selectors think of them. Even Anshuman Gaikwad also. Ashok Malhotra was also there. Then the names of Srikanta Kalyani (Maharashtra), Venkatapati Raju (Hyderabad), Kanwaljit Singh (Hyderabad) was heard apart from them Venkatarama (Tamil Nadu), Robin Singh (senior) or Bihar's Saba Karim then went to the West Indies tour. Robin Singh played two One Day matches. The elderly Praveen Amre played that year for the railway.

And the curiosity is that Sumit Dogra, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Vinod Kambli still U-17 have been doing well at the zonal level.

But there was one who was surpassed every other. He is Sachin Tendulkar. In Rajkot against Saurashtra (December 17-19) he scored 58 and 89. He finished at the end of three innings at an average of 123.50, 247 runs 2- 50s, 1-100. Today's batting maestro Cheteshwar Pujara's uncle Bipin Pujara played in that match for Saurashtra. At the end of the year, against Baroda, he failed for the time. He scored 17 runs. In the opposing team, there were Tushar Arothe, Kiran More, Anshuman Gaikwad, who were Marathis settled in Gujarat. In this match, the first time he bowled in a first class (4-0-11-0). Then, on 14-16 January 1989, he scored 81 and 4 not out against Maharashtra in Aurangabad. In the regional league, playing for Bombay, the team finished in 2nd place and could not win the Talim Trophy but Sachi n scored 349 (average 87.25) in 6 innings. 3- 50s, 1- 100.

59 and 15 in the pre-quarterfinals against Hyderabad. Vivek Jayasima, Raju, Arshad Ayub, Narasimha Rao didn't score many runs the valuable 118 runs 5th wicket partnership between Sachin and Vengsarkar helped them to get a first innings lead.

Faced Uttar Pradesh in the quarter-finals. Now 7 and 75. Bombay then won the match. In the semifinal, Bombay lost to Delhi by an innings. But there also Sachin scored 78. Total services are 583 at 64.77 avg. 1 century 6 half-century and no 0's.

'Indian Cricket' wrote "The positive aspect was debutant 15 years old Sachin Tendulkar top scoring with 349 runs in the league with an average of 87.25 and later topping 500 in the season. He was the youngest ever to be capped by Bombay. In pressure situation like the urgency for batting points as well as the challenge of a turning track, Tendulkar proved equally at home. He was happy against pace and spin alike. That he could outclass players like Vengsarkar, Manjrekar, Rajput, and Hattangadi speaks of his fine temperaments and class". (Blossoming of youth- Pradeep Vijayakar, INDIAN CRICKET, P-129, 43rd edition, Kasturi, and sons limited).

The writer did not understand, this was just the beginning. After that, in the 1989 Irani trophy, he scored 39 and 103 against Delhi. And after that, at the age of 16 years and 205 days, just after his first-class cricket debut in just 353 days he would debut in Test cricket. How could the writer know this?

Joy Zinto! Did he know that with his hands chasing great Mumbaikar Sunil Gavaskar's record of 81 centuries is being started?

Gavaskar's memories were still not over (only 2 years). Sadly none thought Tendulkar as next Gavaskar. But what did Gavaskar think?

In the '87-'88 season, he scored more than 2,500 runs in school cricket or writing his name with Kambli in the Guinness Book of World Records. Despite having scored a double triple century, he did not get the received 'Shantabhai Deshmukh' Junior Cricketer Trophy, Jatin Paranjape, son of Basu Paranjape got the award. Being the next generation of reliable batsmen of Bombay, he played only 2-3 ODI matches till then. Sachin broke down. Wanted to leave the game. Knowing this Gavaskar, wrote a letter to Tendulkar and said that he did not get Shantabhai Trophy like Sachin Tendulkar. There is nothing to worry about.

Sachin was not worried. But was the future became worried. About 16,000 runs in Tests, 18,000+ in ODIs 25,000 in the first class, about 22,000 in the List A (1 run less). 2700 +  in T-Twenty? Centuries 51 in Tests, 49 in ODIs, 81 in first class, 60 in List A and 1 in T20. First Double century in one-day international What does all else have? Played 200 Test, World Cup, Ranji many more. This statistics could not be a worried future?

Sachin was honored with the Padma Shri in 1999, Padma Vibushan in 2008. And he is the only Indian Cricket who has ever received Bharat Ratna

Where is Kambli? Scored two double centuries and finished. Manjrekar? 1 double century and finished. Not played International matches since 1996. Now they have become commentators. Lalchand Rajput? People have forgotten the name. None have forgotten Vengsarkar but Shishir Hathangari? Mumbai has forgotten the name. Prabhakar was finished in 1996. Jadeja in 2000, Azhar in 2000, Ankola in 1996 (now became an actor), Chauhan in 1997, Raju in 2001, Mongia 1999, and Zaidi, Bhupinder, Padmanavan, Snehashis, Kanabaljit, Gyanendra Pandey, Sagar Mehra all of them could even play for the Indian National team.

Only Sachin, with him? Saurav Ganguly scored 17 Test centuries and Rahul Dravid with 36 centuries in Test cricket The rest? .....

                                         Vanished

This cricketing star celebrated his 45th birthday on April 24th, 2018. Belated Happy Birthday Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

A glance at County Cricket 2nd round

At the end of the third day of the second round of County Championship, many important things have happened. Let's take a look at everything.

Hampshire with the bowling efforts of Edward and Dawson finished Surrey's first innings for 211 runs, but Surrey turned the match and closed Hampshire's 1st innings for 147, mainly due to the bowling of the Curran and Clarke. After that playing his 7th first-class match Pope scored 145 and wicketkeeper Foakes scored 81 runs and Borthwick, an English test player who came to Surrey from Durham scored 74. This helped Surrey to reach 407/9 in the 2nd innings and they declared. In response, Hampshire made 125 for 4 wickets at the end of the third day. If they want to win the match, they will have to score 347 in the last day and they have only 6 wickets in hand.

In the first innings, Cheteshwar Pujara scored only 2 runs and wicketkeeper Andy Hodd, who have 15 years of the first-class experience scored 62 and Yorkshire made just 256. Nottingham's Luke Fletcher took 4 wickets for 47. Nottingham finished with just 188 runs in the 1st innings. Zimbabwe-born British Test player Captain Ballance scored 82 and allrounder Bresnan's 68 helped Yorkshire make 334 runs in the second innings. Pujara scored only 18. The target of 403 runs was almost impossible and Nottingham while chasing that scored 181/8  at the end of 3rd day. Ben Coad picked up 4 wickets in the 2nd innings. He has 8 wickets in the match.

On the other hand, if South Africa's Test player Viljoen was not there (60 runs coming at no. 9) Derbyshire would not have scored 256. Middlesex only made 157 in response. Slater and Reece's first wicket partnership of 219 helped  Derbyshire score 333/3 in the second innings. Slater did not get a century for just 1 run. And Reece scored unbeaten 157 not out. With the target of 433 in hands, Middlesex has scored 115/5 (at day 4 first session).

Meanwhile, South Africa's de Lange got 5 wickets for 6 runs and restricted Glouchester to 236 runs. Then Shaun Marsh (111) and David Lloyd (119) scored centuries and 50 unbeaten of de Lange, helped Glamorgan to reach 526/9 in the 1st innings. Glouchester 133/5 at the end of the third day de Lange got 3 wickets. To prevent the innings loss, they still have to score 128 runs. There are 5 wickets in hand.

Luke Wright's 88, wicketkeeper Ben Brown 64, Michael Burgess' unbeaten 101 coming in at no. 8, Ishant Sharma's 66 (120th first-class match, his first 50th in 149th innings), helped Sussex reach 438/8. In response, Colin Ackermann's 188 runs help Leicestershire to take 422/9. Ishant took 3 wickets. Sussex scored 31/1 as per recent update.

Already two matches have ended. Kent has defeated Durham by 9 wickets. First New Zealand Test player Matt Henry finished Durham for just 91 runs with the help of his 5 wickets from 28 runs. Then Kent only made 169. As South Africa's Kuhn scored 54 otherwise score would be lesser. In the second innings, Durham scored 170 runs. Even James Weighell coming in at no. 9 scored 84 runs, once their score was 75/8. Henry again took 7 wickets for 45 runs with the match figure of 12/73. In reply scored 95/1 and won the match.

Northampton scored just 147 as Ryan Sidebottom took 6 wickets for 35 runs. In response, Sam Hain (85) and Ambrose (103), and coming at 10 in his 3rd first-class match, Henry Brooks's 70 helped Warwickshire score 413. Sidebottom again took 4 wickets and Northampton finished 188 all out and lost the match with an innings and 48 runs. Sidebottom: 10 wickets for 99 runs from this match.

Today is the last day of this round, let's see what happens. The matches are currently going on live.

Ishant having a great time playing English County

All together  Ishant Sharma is having a wonderful time in the English County Cricket this year. But on the other hand another Indian batsman Cheteswar Pujara didn’t get a chance to play due to rain. Ishant Sharma playing for Sussex this year is having a great time. In both bowling and batting, he showed his mettle. He scored his 1st first-class half-century while playing for Sussex today, whereas Chesteswar Pujara scored a disappointing  2(15) in the first innings and an 18(33) in the second innings.
While Ishant scored an important 66 of 141 balls hitting 6 fours and 1 six.

His average was 46.81. This is his first half-century in 120 1st class matches. Thus we can say this is one of his best innings.

Apart from this batting display, Ishant has got 3 wickets at the end of the innings. So, based on this performance we can assume that English batman will have a tough time against him in the upcoming India-England series.

Ishant took 5 wickets but Pujara didn't take the field

When India is busy with the IPL's heat, Indian powerhouse Ishant Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara are busy playing county cricket. In the county 2018, Ishant is playing for Sussex and Pujara is playing for Yorkshire. Pujara's match was forfeited due to rain, but Ishant took 5 wickets in the first match combining two innings against Warwickshire. The interesting thing is that batting at number 10 he scored 22 runs in 29 balls with three fours and one six. Although his team drew the match.

In the first round, the game was delayed due to rain. The game between Northampton and Middlesex was low-scoring. The brilliance of  Harris (5/9) and Murtagh (4/27) with the ball, Northampton ended up with just 71 runs. They only scored 142 in the second innings as Harris (4/39) and Murtagh (4/36) became their nightmares. Middlesex (214 and 159) though they did not bat well. Northampton's Hutton took 5 wickets for 54 runs in the first innings.

On the other hand, Kent and Gloucestershire's game was also low-scoring. Kent scored only 64 and 153 runs. In reply, Gloucestershire scored 110 and 108/5 and won the match by 5 wickets.

Lancashire scored 158 and 73 against Nottinghamshire. Nottinghamshire scored 222 in the first innings They needed 10 runs in the second innings. They lose 4 wickets while scoring that run.

Hampshire scored 290 with the help of batting performance from Vince and Bargh (both of them 75). They made 244 in the second innings in which Abbott scored 51. For Worcestershire, Leach took 7 wickets for 97 runs, in two innings. Worcestershire scored 211 (Cox 65) and 127 runs. Abbott took 7 wickets for 90 runs in two innings for Hampshire.

Warwickshire made 299 with Ambrose scoring 81. Wiese took 4 wickets for 56 runs and Ishant Sharma took 3 wickets for 53 runs. In reply, Sussex lost 7 wickets for 194 runs, but South African fast bowling all-rounder Weise who hasn't played any Test (who in the first-class matches have 9 centuries with more than 4500 runs) scored 106 runs from 105 balls and Brown scored 91. As a result, Sussex made 374. Warwickshire's Oly Stone took 8 wickets for 80 runs. This is his best bowling in an innings in first-class (previously 5/44). Then Warwickshire's second innings was 87 for 3 wickets. Ishant took 2 wickets.

Essex did not play with Yorkshire. As a result, Pujara did not get out in the field with the bat.

The first round was low-scoring due to rain. The total of 8 half century and just one century (which again been scored by a bowler means Wiese coming in at 9). Where 7 bowlers took 5 wickets in an innings. In total 16 complete innings, 3 innings were over under 100 runs, and 3 innings under 150. The other 3 innings could not go past 200. And only one innings score was over 300. That means 55% of the innings could not make 200. Actually, the rain in England supports fast or medium pacers, but the players here can play swinging ball. Still, is this event a sign of inefficiency in playing in swing? Does it mean that the players are accustomed to playing in flat wickets only? If so, the upcoming days will be very difficult for cricket. Now, wait for the second round.

It is known that Virat Kohli is likely to come to play the county when the IPL ends. Former British fast bowler Bob Willis did not make a very good comment. Because after the IPL, there is India's tour of England.

Meanwhile, Second Eleven and Minor County have been started.
