Wasim Jaffer completed 18000 runs as the sixth batsman in the history of Indian Cricket. Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Vijay Hazare have shown this credence. With the 286 in the final of Irani Trophy (i.e. Zal Irani cup), now he is on 18110, only 630 runs short from Vijay Hazare's 18740. Not only that he has broken the record of Gundappa Viswanath's highest run in Irani trophy. Vichy's 1001 run is now past.Jaffer is now 1009. And not only that his 53rd century is also 8th highest in India.
As a Mumbai and west zone team player, Jaffer played 31 test matches for India between 2000-2008, scored 1944 runs with 5 centuries including 2 double ton. When he joined Vidarbha Ranji team, he never thought that again he would get an option to play Ranji final, became a member of Ranji champion team again and also able to play Irani trophy.
He is now 40 and still considered as one of a dangerous batsman in Indian domestic cricket.
